Acacius Duval: The apparent heir to the Duval family. He seems to have had many plans in the works when he summoned Jeong Eunseok and lost everything to him. He has tan skin, rose-gold hair that is usually combed back, and sharp amber eyes. He is in a faction opposed to the three Great Families.

Artunis Sattari: The Chief of the Ministry of Security and Investigation. A woman who is used to getting her way. She is a tall individual with ice-blue eyes and shoulder-length black hair, and she is usually dressed in uniform, equipped with batons and firearms. Her relationship with Raoul Sattari is fraught.

• An apostle and apostate of the Secret-Keeper. Has a “locked room” ability where she can manipulate evidence and erase secrets behind closed doors.
• Uses guns.
• By shooting someone with a special bullet, she can see their “inference process” written out.

Bakhta Burzinski: The school librarian. No-nonsense, but never one to look down on one’s pursuit of knowledge, wherever they might be in their journey. She has dark skin and curly gray hair, and likes floral patterns.

Crescent Sun: The mysterious principal of Nithemoore Academy. Powerful enough that figures like Sacha and Cyprian Duval must respect her.

Cynara Duval: Acacius’ younger sister. Similar to Acacius, she has sharp amber eyes, but keeps her rosy locks in large twin braids. A self-proclaimed genius, and an early admit into the Academy. She has a bad relationship with Acacius for unknown reasons, and is in a faction opposed to the three Great Families.

• Uses the sword.
• Apparently a talented elementalist, though this has not yet been seen.

Cyprian Duval: The Duke and patriarch of the Duval family. A powerful swordsman and commanding man with many sins under his name. He seems to be leading an underground criminal organization. Acacius and Cynara inherited their looks from him.

• Uses the sword.
• Master of the moon path realm, able to create entrances and walk through it freely.

Dagian Naveen: Acacius’ classmate and a self-confident prodigy. She has long, wavy, dark purple hair, and wears a gold circlet and bangles. She is descended from the Kalarastriyan royal family, but her father is a Lemirian prince.

• Uses the celestial powers of the celestial-infernal frame commonly used in Lemiria, which gives her angel wings, a golden greatsword, and some other abilities related to purification and/or judgment.
• Uses the Garuda and Sun paths of the emanation embodiment frame commonly used in Kalarastriya. The former grants her speed, wings, and powerful claw-based martial arts attacks. The latter allows her to summon a “sun chariot” and use a spear-based weapon with the sun’s power, in addition to using secondary “enlightenment” and “purification” effects.

Dalileh Khan: The Practical Combat teacher and a veteran from the Rainy Wars, who earned herself the nickname “Unrelenting Storm.” She uses water magic and enjoys adding aesthetic effects to her spells. A fashionable woman with dark hair, brown skin, and a wide smile. Students should address her as “Master Dalileh.”

• A master of the water element of the 6E frame. She can control all water and moisture in a large area.

Dreyminn: Luka’s crow spirit friend. It has a silver sigil between its eyes and the ability to travel through dreams. Acacius and his friend Zaire once kidnapped this crow spirit for unknown reasons.

Etienne: A boy with light skin, messy black hair, dark eyes, and noticeable canine teeth. An Academy student skilled with aura. He seems to be running an information network of some sort at the Pearl Dive.

Graves: The Duval family butler and Cyprian’s right hand man. A dignified and elegant man with pale skin and salt-and-pepper hair. Though he is respectful and friendly to the members of the Duval family, he seems to have a disregard for other peoples’ lives.

Javier Baschet: A refined young man with long green hair tied back in a ponytail, with a white waistcoat and glasses. Co-president of the Fellowship of the Silver Wing and the prospective Treasurer for the Student Council. A member of the three Great Families.

Isul: A priest who wears a hooded cloak and carries a dark lantern. He has dark skin and curly black hair worn in two-strand twists. A self-professed adherent of both the Signifier and the Secret-Keeper, he is friendly but mysterious, and more than a little suspicious.

Jeong Eunseok: Our main character’s original name.

Jules: Also known as Cardinal Jules. A blind girl dressed in red, with an excellent sense of style and a great interest in matters of the law. Associated with the Seelie Court. She took a few years off before coming to Nithemore, so she is older than her peers.

• Leveraging an unknown “contract,” she can establish stationary domains in which her rules are akin to the natural laws of the world; for example, “No physical harm is allowed in this domain.”
• Known titles:
  • [Restrained Architect of Unconscious Law]. This title qualified her to act as a judge in an Inquisition ritual.

Linden: Acacius’ older half-brother. A red-haired young man talented with aura and the sword. He ran away from the Duval family and found protection with the Morgans. Close with Xander and Cynara, but hates Acacius for the death of their older brother.

• Uses the sword.
• Primarily wields the aura force frame. He is at the Trajectory realm.

Luka Reviance: Acacius’ classmate and enemy, whom the original Acacius insisted must be killed. Has black hair, slitted red eyes, and long gold earrings. He seems to have some unimaginable secrets hidden in his past. He intends to kill Acacius in two years.

• World Proof: [Lured Sentinel at the Gate of the Abyss], from Harbinger’s Record (3). Allows Luka to save up instances of ignoring material/immaterial attacks, depending on his wavering relationship with “humanity.”
• Known Titles:
  • [Blade of Unkind Reflections]: Conditionally shows Luka an enemy’s weak points. Triggered by making statements that hurt the other’s feelings… And what else?!
  • [Echo of the World Eater]: Related to the “wolf” sealed in Luka’s shadow. Can absorb and eat attacks to a certain degree.
  • [Eater of the White Dragon's Dreams]: Allowed Luka to absorb some of Eunseok’s nightmares and discern his emotions.
  • [Sword Adept]: Related to his skill with the sword.
  • [Willing Thrall of an Artificial Heart]: Produces “emotions.”
  • ???: A title earned from solving KP-04 with the title [Final Bridge of the Kaleidoscope], which allowed him to connect to others’ souls.
  • ???: A title earned from KP-04, possibly related to the visual disaster, that he mentally notes as something to avoid using.
• Fights with a black sword and the aura force frame. His aura is black, like Eunseok.
• Has an unknown ability to summon and channel apocalyptic spirits.

M: Zaire’s mysterious and antisocial teacher. Apparently, in the past, Acacius was the one who sent Zaire to meet M. According to one of Acacius’ visions, M is a possible major player in causing an apocalyptic event.

• Can affect anyone who has ever seen or received a “sign” from them.

Mehran Sattari: Acacius’ classmate. Has some leadership skills, but not enough confidence. He usually wears a headband, vest, sash, and loose trousers. A member of the three Great Families.

Nastaran Farzan: A sociable young woman with mercantile leanings. She has a long, dark braid, hazel eyes, and a confident smile. She is in a faction opposed to the three Great Families.

Raoul Sattari: Acacius’ homeroom teacher. Brown skin, dark hair, brown eyes. Typically wears gold-rimmed glasses and a suit. Quiet and well-mannered, but nonetheless has a strong will.

• World Proof: [Observer of All Hidden Skies]. Manifests as an astrolabe. He can force the sky to display the night sky as it would appear from any time and location of his choosing.
• Known Titles:
  • [Broken Faith, Unbroken Love]: Allows him to sense when someone he loves is misleading, deceiving, or otherwise betraying him.
  • [Contract Breaker]: Forcefully bestowed upon him by Eunseok’s [Caller of What Must Be True].
  • [Lotus of the Betrayed]: By sealing off one skill of his that his betrayer knows, he can seal off a similarly powerful skill of theirs. For each sealed ability, choose an ability of theirs to be stored. The stored ability can be used by the title wielder after the lotus tattoo has bloomed.
  • [Storyteller of the Starry Stage]: Can manifest stories and rituals related to the stars that currently appear in the sky.

Rhoswen: Acacius’ classmate. A tall girl with long, auburn hair and dark eyes. Known as the “Tamlane,” she is a skilled archer with a strong affinity for the Unseelie Court and the Wild Hunt.

Roxana: A lavender-haired girl with downturned eyes and a propensity for being fake. She is a priestess of the Dragon Shrine with great skill in healing and a notable knowledge of the world.

Sacha Reviance (Sashenka): Luka’s teacher, and a powerful personage. A fair woman with long, pale hair, and prone to making people uncomfortable for her own amusement. Though they share the same last name, she is not related to Luka by blood.

• Has the ability to warp someone’s perception of “good” and “bad.”

Thais: A bartender with light skin and a wild mane of blond hair. She is Etienne’s friend.

Verica (Veric): A quiet girl who wears a male school uniform. She has pale skin, freckles, and long silver-blue hair combed back and tied in a ponytail. Best friends with Luka. Deeply connected to the Dragon Shrine.

• World Proof: [Scales of Talent Caught Between Paths]. By giving up the power contained in a lifestyle title, she can redistribute her talent.
• Known Titles:
  • [Alleviator of Shared Sorrows]: From her duties as a priestess of the Dragon Shrine. Allows her to sense, and even share, the burden of other people’s pain.
  • [Arbiter of Solace and Relief]: From her priestess duties. Related to healing. She sacrificed its power to use her World Proof, and it is now inert.
  • [Braveheart Who Challenged the Dragon’s Tears]: Grants Veric endless strength, stamina, and healing as long as she doesn’t lose heart.
  • [Light of Guarded Hearts]: When someone whose trust is difficult to earn places their trust in her, she can imitate one of their titles to use. This, of course, requires that person to trust her with the name and knowledge of their title.

Xander Morgan: Acacius’ classmate. A proud and combative young man with dark blue hair and a sharp military style. His Morgan family seems to deal with military matters to the North. He is in a faction opposed to the three Great Families.

Yugrazal Kamara: An indifferent young woman with dark skin and braided hair tied back in a scarf. Co-president of the Fellowship of the Silver Wing and the prospective President of the Student Council. A member of the three Great Families.

Zaire: Acacius’ friend. An outgoing boy with short hair, light brown skin, and freckles. Has a strong interest in biology and ecology, with a particular focus on insect and reptile care. He is also tech-savvy.
